This once-a-year rodeo draws participants from Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico and sometimes as far away as California.
For more than eighty-years, the young participants of Kids Rodeo showcase the sport of rodeo, displaying strength, agility, and grace in the rodeo arena.
The La Junta Kids Rodeo and Race Meet promotes cowboy tradition in the Arkansas Valley and surrounding areas of Southeastern Colorado. The rodeo helps young cowhands to hone their rodeo and competitive skills. Many of the participants have entered high school and college rodeo teams and some have even competed at National Finals Rodeos in Las Vegas!
In the La Junta City Park, during Early Settler’s Day, you can discover delicious treats and tasty eats at many of the vendors at the location. In addition to these vendors, don’t forget to explore the culinary flavors from our locally owned and operated dining establishments.
